Meet My Hyperfixation: Twisted Families, Suburban Secrets and Page-Turning Chaos 📚

IYKYK: Summer is my season for diving headfirst into the most twisted, messed-up thrillers I can find. Give me a poolside chair and a book about a seemingly perfect family unraveling at high speed, and I’m in my happy place.

Right now, I’m fully hyper-fixated on thrillers about dysfunctional families, suburban scandals, and the kind of leafy neighborhoods where everything looks calm — until someone ends up missing, dead, or both. The more layers of deceit, resentment, and generational trauma, the better.

I love how these books blur the lines between who’s right and who’s just better at hiding things. They’re fast-paced, sharply written and totally unhinged in the best way. There’s always a secret affair, a toxic parent, a weirdly charming sociopath — and I eat it all up like popcorn.

For me, it’s not just about the plot twists (though I live for a good twist). It’s the way these stories dissect human behavior, especially behind closed doors. They make me think while still letting me escape. And let’s be honest: Nothing says “summer unwind” like reading about someone else’s chaos while avoiding your own.

If it involves a hidden past, a perfect marriage with cracks, or a PTA mom turned prime suspect, I’m already 100 pages in.
