Meet a CSGer: Shannon

Chief Strategy Officer, Shannon, has always, always, always been competitive — this should come as no surprise. The other details herein, however, may reveal other sides of The Fern.

...Except West Virginia

Before I discovered my beloved Colorado, I lived in all the ”W” states except West Virginia (and no, Washington D.C. doesn’t count because it’s not a state).

1977: Born in Tacoma, WA

1978: Moved to Green River, WY

1985: Did a one-year stint in Racine, WI

1986: Landed in Littleton, CO

Here I’m pictured – in true Wyoming fashion – hunting with my dad.

I Am A Baller; Still Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller

I started playing soccer in elementary school, and continued all the way through college, stopping along the way to win a high school state championship (pictured with my sister Meghan, who also played on the Chatfield Sr. High girls varsity team. GO CHARGERS!!!). After two knee surgeries and three physical therapists telling me I needed to switch to something lower impact, I traded in my cleats for a yoga mat. Now I practice yoga 4-5 times a week and get my soccer fix at my daughter Rowan’s games.

My “Sliding Doors” Moment...with 100% Less British Accent

My husband Roger and I kept just missing each other until we finally met in 2001. We grew up five minutes away from each other in Littleton. We went to the same high school but he graduated just before I started 9th grade. We also worked for the same organization, but he quit about a month before I started. We finally met through mutual friends on a trip to climb two Colorado fourteeners: Grays and Torreys Peaks. Four years later, we tied the knot.

Not A Regular Mom...

These two goofballs joined the party 5 and 8 years ago respectively. Rhys, my 8 year old, is a brilliant artist and writer, loves video games and can tell you any fact you want to know about the Titanic. Rowan, my 5 year old, loves unicorns, soccer and the outdoors, and is always a #mood.

The Mountains Are Calling and I Must Go

I am never happier than when I’m in the mountains. I don’t ski because of the aforementioned knees, but I am always down to hike or camp. I’ve bagged 10 fourteeners, and I intend to do more as soon as my kids get old enough to tag along.
