MAINER

As most of you know, I was born and raised in Maine — Yarmouth to be exact. I’m not shy about my love for Maine and will ramble on about its beauty, seafood and fall-time perfection. Every year, I try to go back East to visit my family, friends and to get my fix of the ocean. As much as I love the Colorado mountains and climate, I always find myself needing a change at least once a year and look forward to breathing in the salty, ocean (humid) air. Every visit home, I attempt to fit seafood into as many meals as possible. Last time, I topped my record by consuming eight lobster rolls!!! For anyone looking to visit, I have many favorite towns, coffee shops, restaurants, breweries, and bars to recommend and would love to chat about them all!

FORMER ROWER

A little-known fact about me, I was a member of the Simmons University Crew Team during my four years of college. I participated in competitive gymnastics throughout elementary, middle and high school but when I was heading to college, I realized I wanted to try something different. I joined the crew team my freshman year of college having never rowed before. I am most definitely not a morning person, but I’ve seen hundreds of Boston sunrises sitting in a boat on the Charles River. My most memorable moments from being on the Simmons Crew were rowing at the Head of the Charles (the largest 2-day regatta in the world) in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Unfortunately, I don’t row anymore but I am deeply grateful for what it gave me: my best friends, my work ethic, and my love of exercise. Sadly, the early morning alarms didn’t stick. (I’m seated in bow in the photo.)

ROAD-TRIPPER

When I moved to Colorado in 2016, I drove from Maine and made a point to take my time seeing the country. I drove through and stopped in many states I’d never visited. I loved every minute of the first road trip so I did it again. Last summer, I drove to Maine and then back again stopping in different states along a different route. All of these trips have sparked a desire to see all 50 states (whether I drive or fly to each destination). Most recently, I flew to Oregon and drove to Washington. Next on my list, I hope to drive to Utah to see some national parks. I have a long way to go to check off all 50, but I’m really enjoying seeing the US by car.

HOME-BREWER

I began home-brewing with my aunt and uncle just after moving to Colorado in 2016. Prior to that, I had very little knowledge about beer or the brewing process nor was I a big beer drinker.

I’ve been home-brewing with my family on and off for 5 years now and what I love most is the amount of time I’ve been able to spend with my aunt and uncle and our shared love of beer. We’ve brewed IPAs, Saisons, barleywines, wee heavies, cherry lambics and stouts to name a few. In 2019, one of our IPAs won a gold medal at the Peak-to-Peak ProAm and was chosen by Left Hand Brewery to be brewed on their pilot system and poured at the ProAm tent at the Great American Beer Festival 2019.

READER

Along with brewing, my other favorite activity is reading. I’ve been a voracious reader ever since I started reading and can often be found sitting in the same spot with my nose in a book all day. I love anything fiction: detective and mystery, fantasy, thriller, historical fiction, literary fiction, young adult, the list goes on and on. I’ll occasionally throw in a non-fiction biography, memoir or history book into the mix. My TBR (to be read) list is long and ever-growing. I have boxes, and boxes, and boxes of books waiting to be opened. In the past few years, I’ve even made a book tree for Christmas! If you have any great recommendations, please send them my way!
