I’D RATHER BE FLOATING

I was born and raised in Colorado, but my heart is in the ocean. I first fell in love with the ocean as a child and it has never faded. I had the amazing opportunity to work in Hawaii for 5 summers in high school and college which only grew my passion for the big blue. I am also wildly passionate about space! I am baffled by the number of people that would not take the opportunity to go to space if it were offered. I would be the first to volunteer for a Mars trip, considering they found a way for Moscow to travel with me. Ocean or space, I’d rather be floating.

MANY THINGS, BUT NEVER SPONTANEOUS

I have always had a difficult time defining myself.  In high school I was on the varsity dance team and the science Olympiad team. In one sense I am a serious person who loves a regimented schedule, a strict diet, a daily workout, and the 9 to 5 life. On the other hand, among my friends I am the comedian, and a sci-fi loving, sports fanatic. I love the freedom of writing as equally as the black and white clarity of math. I enjoy high fashion but live in sweatpants. Most importantly, if I have to be spontaneous, I believe it should be scheduled.

BLINDED BY THE NIGHT

In college I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer in Costa Rica and Panama. We stayed in the amazing indigenous village of Yorkin, Costa Rica tucked deep in the jungle where the rising and setting of the sun dictated our sleep. With no running water or electricity, I learned to live at the mercy of nature. Each morning after breakfast, paired with the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had, we crossed over into Panama. I learned my strength carrying cinderblocks up mountains and shoveling hard clay to build a functioning water source for the Panamanian village. I am passionate about giving back and look forward to my next adventure.

GO BUCKS!

No, I did not go to Ohio State, but I still bleed Scarlet and Grey. My grandparents met on The Ohio State campus during their undergrad. My grandfather played both football and basketball for the Buckeyes and pictures of him still hang in the stadium. My grandmother’s father and grandfather played for Ohio State… so you can say it is in the blood. Every Saturday my grandmother, now 95, and I have a pre-game call, we talk about the team, get each other pumped for the game and catch up on our week. Ohio State Football has enriched my relationship with my grandmother in a really beautiful way. Go Bucks!

MOTHERHOOD!

I am a cat mom. I rescued Moscow five years ago when he was all ears, whiskers, and paws. I have never wanted kids but being a cat mom gives me purpose and so much joy! Москва is smart but stubborn and when he feels like listening to me, responds to English and Russian commands. He is a Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest Cat mix, so he is incredibly loving, comes to his name and follows me around. Moscow is a polydactyl, meaning he was born with extra toes, so though he is no longer a kitten, he is still mostly paws. He makes life full, and I am eternally grateful to be his momma.
